WHAT IS MEDIATION?

Mediation is a cost-effective way to resolve disagreement without the need for legal intervention or litigation.  It is a voluntary process, where all parties need to consent to participation. As a neutral facilitator, the mediator will work through sticking points and troublesome issues, in a private and confidential space. The aim is to arrive at a binding settlement agreeable to all.

WHY MEDIATION?

Caroline and Ed have both experienced first hand the benefits of a mediated approach to conflict which was the catalyst for them to set up their own practice. When parties become entrenched in their views and emotions are running high, mediation can be a welcome alternative to further escalation.

Mediation provides the participants with the opportunity to express their views, re-opens communication for negotiation and ultimately empowers participants to determine their agreed outcome.

CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE STARTING MEDIATION

For mediation to be successful, both parties will need to come willingly to the process, to keep an open mind with full and flexible participation.

Mediation will not always be straightforward and it may bring up some uncomfortable emotions or topics, but try not to worry, the mediator is there to act as a neutral motivator and will assist by easing any tensions and ensuring a smooth process.
